Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Angelica A.D. came into the world brimming with light, laughter and creativity. The daughter of a renowned psychedelic artist/singer, and a healing musician, Angelica’s destiny was planted in darkness and unfolded during chaos, because there was an irreversible schism in her family that started when she was 6 months of age and lasted until she was 6 years old.
Her artistic journey began afterwards when her mother guided her in the art of drawing, painting and techniques. At the age of 10 her father gave her a mini guitar, which she used to bring to school and one of her best friends offered to have her mother teach her guitar in exchange for her mom teaching her to paint, so they did, and some songs she learned ignited a genuine passion for singing and songwriting that endures to this day. For example, The Beatles song called “Blackbird” was the first song that sparked her desire to make her own chords on guitar and discover her unique voice.
She began recording at the age of 11 her own original songs in a professional London studio, coming out with amazing productions, one of which is “True Love,” a favorite in her network. She even collaborated with a band in England when she was 14 singing the chorus to a song called ‘Open Your Eyes’, which marked a turning point in her character development, as setbacks fueled her artistry. Angelica went through hard times in her youth, being imposed on by people who came in through the cracks of her family structure, but through all these troubles she found a ray of light in the form of a book, ‘Piercing the Darkness.’ The book offered her profound insights into the reality of spiritual warfare, which filled the void in her soul, aiding her confusion. She was able to mend some brokenness through her newfound strength in Christian faith, and pave a better path towards her goal.
In an industry often characterized by hyper-sexualization and over-exploitation, Angelica remains steadfast. She doesn’t let her appearance and body be the focal point, choosing instead to make her music send the message.
